Description

It is a non-aromatic herb. The leaves of this plant are succulent, oblong and 4to6 mm (0.16 to 0.24 in) thick. Leaves are balanced and are arranged oppositely (opposite decussate) on the stem. The flowers are small, actinomorphic and white, with four to five petals. Its ability to grow in water makes it a popular aquarium plant. It can even grow in slightly brackish conditions.

Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Prefers moist, fertile, well-drained loans, but adapts to a wide range of soil conditions. Good tolerance for urban conditions. Tolerant of heavy pruning, and may be grown as a hedge.

Centella asiatica, commonly known as centella and Gotu kola, is a small, herbaceous, annual plant of the family Mackinlayaceae or subfamily Mackinlayoideae of family Apiaceae, and is native to wetlands in Asia.It is used as a medicinal herb in Ayurvedic medicine, traditional African medicine, and traditional Chinese medicine.

It is also known as the Asiatic pennywort or Indian pennywort in English, among various other names in other languages. It has long-stalked, green, rounded apices which have smooth texture with palmately netted veins. The leaves are borne on pericardial petioles, around 2 cm. The rootstock consists of rhizomes, growing vertically down. They are creamish in color and covered with root hairs.
