Description

Cashew trees are attractive trees with large leaves and pretty, pink flowers. Now grow your own cashew tree at your home.

  • What makes it special: The cashew is an attractive, erect, evergreen tree.
  • Delicious and nutritious fruit and nuts.
  • The perfect plant for outdoor gardens.

Anacardium occidentale is an evergreen tree and grows up to 6 to 12 m tall. The leaves are spirally arranged, leathery textured, elliptic to ovate. The flowers are produced in a panicle or corymb up to 26 cm long, each flower small, pale green at first then turning reddish, with five slender, acute petals.

Actually, the drupe develops first on the tree, and then the peduncle expands into the pseudofruit. Within the true fruit is a single seed, the cashew nut. Although a nut in the culinary sense, in the botanical sense the fruit of the cashew is a seed.

Re-pottingWhen a plant outgrows in the current pot, re-pot with fresh potting soil and some fertilizer.
